Working in our Community for Jobs & the Environment
Welcome to CBEC (Community Business and Environment Centre)
CBEC’s vision is “Working in our community for jobs and our environment”
CBEC is a community enterprise which operates a range of businesses and environmental programmes as part of an overall effort to
build sustainable local economies in the communities we live within.
Based at Kaitaia in the Far North of New Zealand, CBEC was formed in 1989 in response to the impacts of New Zealand’s mid 80s
economic reforms. The founding managers and board members wanted to create environmentally sustainable businesses and practises
that provided training and employment for local people with the profits going back into the community.
